Project Description

Cake Group were engaged by Fulton Hogan to provide our Protective Coating services for the upgrading of the Watercare Treatment Plant in Rosedale Auckland.

Our team was assigned to the new PST7 Sedimentation Tank currently being built alongside existing concrete tanks at the plant. The purpose of this project was to apply a Protective Coating membrane to the concrete walls of the tank to a depth of approximately 1.7m, protecting the otherwise vulnerable concrete from the harsh chemicals it will be exposed to. The tank was under construction and thus our teams had to coordinate with mechanical workers who were also onsite. The project began with an Abrasive Blast to remove the laitance from the concrete.

This revealed an expected layer of bug holes in the concrete which Cake prepared to remediate with an Altex Coating Carboguard 510 SG. Once the concrete had been remediated, our Protective Coating team spray applied Carboguard 696 Epoxy, and then applied multiple coats of the Phenoline 1205 membrane to protect the concrete and meet the client’s specification.
